Goron-Goenka lists only 1001 (written out in words). The date on this coin is a clear "1000" (1000 AH = 1591) on the bottom of the reverse. Rare in such high grade.

The Ahmadnagar Sultanate was a Muslim kingdom of the Deccan, founded in 1490 by Malik Ahmad Nizam Shah I after the breakup of the Bahmani Sultanate. Ruled by the Nizam Shahi dynasty from its capital at Ahmadnagar, it was one of the five Deccan Sultanates and frequently fought with Bijapur, Golconda, and the Mughal Empire. Despite determined resistance, famously associated with Chand Bibi, Ahmadnagar gradually fell to the Mughals and was finally annexed in 1636.
