Between Tang and Song (907-978 AD)

Many of the states during this period cast their own unique coins in this period - most remain scarce to extremely rare, but this period still remains very popular with coin collectors, since the coinage from this period is crude and very unique.

The period of disunity between the collapse of Tang and the unification of China by the Song dynasty is known as the "Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period". China was fragmented into numerous States fighting each other.Traditionally, the era started with the fall of the Tang dynasty in 907 and reached its climax with the founding of the dominant Song dynasty in 960. In the remaining 19 years Song gradually subdued all the remaining states.
