Ancient Gandhāra was a culturally rich and historically significant region, flourishing from around the 1st millennium BCE to the 5th century CE. It served as a crossroads of Greek,  Indian, and Central Asian influences due to its strategic location along major trade routes, including the Silk Road. Gandhāra is most famous for its unique Greco-Buddhist art, which combined Hellenistic artistic techniques with Buddhist themes—producing some of the earliest iconic representations of the Buddha in human form. The region was first ruled by local dynasties, followed by the Achaemenids, Alexander the Great, the Mauryan Empire, and later the Indo-Greek, Kushan, and Huns. Under the Kushan Empire, especially during the reign of Kanishka the Great, Gandhāra became a major center of Buddhist learning, sculpture, and pilgrimage. By the 5th century CE, with the decline of Buddhism in the region and invasions by the Hephthalites (White Huns), Gandhāra's prominence waned, though its artistic and religious legacy endured across Asia.

Unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic.
