La ilah illa / Allah wahdahu / la sharik lahu / [izz] ("There is no God but Allah alone, no partner to him, glory") // Muhammad / rasul / Allah al-Amir / 'Abi [Majid] ("Muhammad is the messenger of God, Amir Abi Majid"). 9mm, 0.37 grams. G/G -; Fishman/Todd (2018) #LH1.
This is an extremely rare type with “‘izz” (meaning “glory”) paralleling certain Habbarid coins of Ahmed and some issues of ‘Abdallah III. The inscription on the reverse is incomplete on both known specimens – it is probably abi Mājid (meaning “father of Mājid” or “illustrious”). These coins are probably from the same series as the "abu’l muzaffar” (meaning “father of the victor”) coins (Type HS33). “Mājid” might refer to a son of ‘Abdallah or of Ibrahim or it might be an epithet of ‘Abdallah’s son (Ibrahim?).
