Diademed bust of king right, Greek legend around: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ // Athena Alkidemos standing left, seen from behind, holding shield on outstretched left arm, and hurling thunderbolt with right hand, monograms at right, Kharoshthi legend around: Maharajasa tratarasa Bhadrayashasa. 15mm, 2.03 grams. Uncertain mint in Jammu? MIG 476
Nice quality coin, with a good portrait, with some dark adhesions.
Bhadrayasha was an ephemeral Indo-Scythian (?) ruler who seems to have followed Strato II and III in the Jammu area, although the Greek legend on the obverse cites Zoilos (II). His coins were almost unobtainable until a small group of them was found a few years ago; they are still very rare.
