These very rare and obscure coins are thought to be ceremonial cash of some sorts because of their religion-affiliated inscription. They are known in zinc and brass - this type is very early. This coin was found in a hoard of Xiang Fu zinc and Qing cash, which probably date to c.1800. It seems they were cast in brass for decades after, but the very rare zinc coins like this one are the earliest in the series.
