Soghd inscription: βrγwm’n / MLK’ (King Warhuman) // Samarqand tamgha and triskeles tamgha. 21mm, 1.98 grams. Smirnova 106.

In Tang chronicles known as Fuhuman, in Yong Wei period assigned as governor (by TangShu, III, 135; B. II, 311). Xuan Zang passed through Samarqand during his reign.

Ikhshids were the princely title of the rulers of Soghd and the Ferghana Valley in Transoxiana during the pre-Islamic and early Islamic periods. The title is of Iranian origin; scholars have derived it variously from the root khshaeta, "shining, brilliant", or from khshāyathiya, "ruler, king" (which is also the origin of the title shah)
