Muhammad Yusuf Shah Chak (1580–1586) was one of the last independent sultans of Kashmir and a ruler of the Chak dynasty. His reign was marked by internal political struggles and increasing pressure from the Mughal emperor Akbar, whose attempts to bring Kashmir under imperial control ultimately led to Yusuf Shah’s submission and detention in 1586. Mughal forces subsequently occupied Kashmir, although resistance continued briefly under his son Yaʿqub Shah Chak.
