Arabic inscriptions spread on both sides: Kalima spread over both sides, date around, citing Ma'bad and Caliph al-Mansur by his regnal name of Al-Mahdi. Dated to 135 AH = 752 AD, NM [Bukhara]. 21mm, 2.48 grams. Album A208; MWI 301; Wurtzel(1978), p. 193, no. 40; SICA, vol. 2, 2009, no. 1396, plate 66; cf. Zeno 14023.
Scarce Central Asian Abbasid issue, struck at the fringes of the Abbasid Empire. The attribution to Bukhara is based mostly on the archaeological evidence.
