Enthroned Ardoxsho facing; Nagari legend Sri-Gu across field / King standing, Nagari legend DeVya right. 17mm, 5.58 grams. Mitchiner NIS - (inscription listed, but the coin is not shown).

Copper stater in the style of Kashmiri staters. Interesting disjointed "Sri". Very late style, extremely rare.

Gulhana was a prince and chieftain installed as the ruler of Vallapura (modern-day Balor in Jammu) by his father, King Jayasimha of Kashmir (r. 1127–1154 AD). According to Kalhana's Rajatarangini, during the turbulent period of the 12th century, King Jayasimha solidified his power by appointing his own choices as rulers over various fiefs, which included installing Gulhana. Gulhana's coins are listed, but not pictured, in Mitchiner NIS. They are extremely rare, and none are listed on Zeno.
