Emperor Wenzong of Qing (Xianfeng Emperor, 1851–1861) was the seventh emperor of the Qing dynasty to rule China. His reign was marked by the devastating Taiping Rebellion, other internal uprisings, and the Second Opium War against Britain and France. In 1860, Anglo-French forces occupied Beijing and destroyed the Old Summer Palace, forcing the emperor to flee to Rehe. He died in 1861 and was succeeded by his young son, the Tongzhi Emperor.
