Uzbeg Khan (also spelled Öz Beg or Uzbek Khan) was one of the most important rulers of the Golden Horde. He reigned from 1313 to 1341 and is remembered for consolidating the khanate's power, promoting trade across the Eurasian steppes, and making Islam the dominant state religion of the Golden Horde. Under his rule, the Golden Horde reached the height of its political influence and economic prosperity, maintaining authority over the Russian principalities. His long and stable reign is often regarded as the Golden Horde's golden age.
