This is an authentic 1864 T-66 Confederate $50 note (Criswell-496, without the dash over "CONFEDERATE", 2nd Series), a well-preserved example of late-war Confederate currency. The note features a bold portrait of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States, prominently displayed at the center. 

As a 2nd Series issue, this note is an excellent representation of the financial struggles faced by the Confederacy during its final year. Despite circulation and staining on the reverse, this example has no tares or major problems, retaining strong detail and good eye appeal.
