These coins were local issues cast by Shen Chong, more commonly known as Shen Lang (œLord Shen) during the rebellion of the warlord Wang Dun. Both died in 324 and the casting of these coins is traditionally dated to AD 322-324, when the Jin government was in a dire financial state because of Wang Duns rebellion. They are easily identified in most cases because the Wu Zhu is written in a simplified way, omitting all or most of the component Jin on the left.

Attributed to Shen Chong of the House of Wu; cast after the foundation of the Eastern Jin Dynasty in 317. Also known as the Shen Chong Wu Zhu. An old ballad contains the lines œElm seeds countless press in sheets, Lord Shens green cash line town streets. Apparently this means that Lord Shens cash were small and light.

Unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic.
