RRR - unlisted round Sizhu cash (4-zhu) with a reversed legend, early Han period, ca.175-136 BC, China

Zhu Si (reversed “4-zhu”) / Blank, no rims. 17mm, 2 grams. Hartill -; Gratzer/Fishman A14.7 var (unlisted with the reversed legend and a large hole).

Rare round type (almost all these 4-zhu coins are square) with a large hole and a reversed legend (the character “zhu” is not symmetric, the lower part is squared while the upper part is rounded.

Very good quality, unpublished with the large hole and reversed legend.

The 4-zhu coins are known from a few dozen varieties. They were probably used as local coinage all over China in the early Han period. The coins are very rare to extremely rare, they should be rated rarity 1-3 in Hartill.
