1000 pesos, 1945 WWII Japanese Occupation of Philippines. Pick#115.
Scarce high-denomination note. The actual note for sale is pictured above.
The 1000-pesos note (Pick-115) issued in the Philippines in 1945 under the Japanese occupation of the Philippines represents the extreme inflation that gripped the economy in the final months of World War II. As prices spiraled out of control, increasingly large denominations were printed to keep pace, culminating in this highest-value note of the series. However, public confidence had largely collapsed by this stage; many Filipinos were reluctant to accept such notes, widely recognizing that Japan’s impending defeat would soon render the so-called “Mickey Mouse money” effectively worthless.
