Derivation of the bust of the Sassanian Emperor Peroz wearing winged skull-cap and a large earring, Tamgha in the left field, inscription in the lower field, two countermarks (see the additional image) / Very crude altar with two attendants, three countermarks (see the additional image). 30mm, 2.83 grams. cf.Gobl 72/73; Zeno 138259. 

Tokaristan is an an area in Central Asia. From the 1st century AD to the 3rd century AD, Tokharistan was under the rule of the Kushans. They were followed by the Sassanids (Indo-Sassanids). Later, in the 5th century, it was controlled by the Xionites and the Hephthalites but was reconquered by the Sassanids, it was later conquered by the Arabs and then the Mongols. These coins date to the immediate pre-Islamic period of the first years of the Muslim rule over the region.
