Queen Sugandha of Kashmir was a powerful and unusual female ruler of early medieval India, active in the early 10th century CE, during the Utpala dynasty of post-Hephthalite Kashmir.

Sugandha was the wife of King Shankaravarman (r. 883–902 CE) and the mother of King Gopalavarman (r. 902–904 CE). After Shankaravarman’s death, she acted as regent for her underage son, exercising real authority over the kingdom. When Gopalavarman died prematurely around 904, Sugandha ruled in her own name - a rare example of a woman assuming full royal power in Kashmir.

Her independent reign, however, was short-lived and turbulent. According to Kalhaṇa’s Rājataraṅgiṇī, Sugandha attempted to maintain control through palace alliances and military support but faced fierce opposition from rival factions and nobles. She was ultimately deposed and killed during a period of civil conflict, as the throne passed to Partha (r. 906–921 CE) under the influence of powerful ministers.
