King Kalasha of Kashmir (c. 1063–1089 CE), a ruler of the Lohara dynasty, succeeded his father Ananta and inherited a politically unstable kingdom. Early in his reign he restored royal authority and subdued rebellious nobles, showing energy and administrative ability. Over time, however, his rule became marked by heavy taxation, confiscation of temple wealth, court intrigue, and moral decline, which alienated nobles and religious institutions alike. Rebellion spread, and in 1089 Kalasha committed suicide amid the collapse of his authority. He was succeeded by his son Harsha, under whom Kashmir’s decline deepened.
