Arslan-Shah was a ruler of the declining Ghaznavid Empire who reigned from 1116 to 1117 CE. He was the son of Sultan Mas‘ud III and seized the throne after a violent succession struggle among his brothers following their father’s death. His brief reign was marked by internal instability and conflict within the Ghaznavid royal family. Arslan-Shah was eventually defeated by his brother Bahram Shah, who received military support from the powerful Seljuk Sultan Ahmad Sanjar. After losing the struggle, Arslan-Shah was captured and killed, illustrating the weakened state of the Ghaznavid dynasty during its final century.
