Diademed bust, right. Greek legend / Pallas standing right with thunderbolt and shield. Karosthi legend and control marks. Brown patina. 12mm, 2.4g.These bronze drachms are usually attributed to Gondophares, but the beardless portrait is very different from that on common drachms and tetradrachms of Gondophares. I doubt this attribution and will leave this coin without one :-)The Northern India was established during the 1st century CE, by a leader named Gondophares, in an area covering today's Afghanistan, Pakistan and Northern India. Most of their Kings issued various coins, and while the larger tetradrachms are well-catalogued and studied, the small crude drachms are pretty obscure. A few of the types are attributed to various rulers, all except for drachms of Gondophares are fairly scarce. Many of the types we are offering are unpublished and are worth further study. Please check our huge inventory @http://www.ancientcoins.ca
