The Giray dynasty traced its lineage to Togay-Timur, one of Jochi's sons (or grandsons, depending on sources), which placed them within the Borjigin royal house - the same Mongol imperial clan as Genghis Khan.

Murad Giray was a 17th-century ruler from the Giray dynasty, known for his brief and turbulent reign marked by political intrigue and military challenges. He rose to power during a time of regional instability and shifting allegiances, navigating complex relationships with neighboring powers and internal factions. Despite initial efforts to assert authority and stabilize governance, his rule was short-lived due to rival claimants and lack of strong support from key political backers. Ultimately, Murad’s leadership ended in exile, reflecting the volatile nature of dynastic politics in the region during that era.
