SIX punch-mark symbols (see below) / Two small punch-marks (a "wheel" and a dot surrounded by arrows and crescents). Irregular flat silver planchet, 17x16mm, 3.27 grams. Unpublished, but this coin is a derivative of Gupta/Hardaker ISPC VI IV F 145 (#574). Very unusual coin, showing the expected 5 punchmarks and another extra mark (shown below). Unpublished in the standard references. The Mauryan Empire was India's first great unified empire. It lasted from 321 to 185 BCE, and was ruled by the Mauryan dynasty. At its height it ruled virtually all of northern and central India and parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
