Southern Ming and Qing rebels (1644-1682)

Following the fall of the Ming dynasty and the rise of Qing, numerous warlords, especially in eastern and southern China, declared independence and founded their own dynasties or Kingdoms. They fought the Qing government and each other - this period of anarchy lasted for nearly four decades.

Many of these warlords cast unique coins of their own, making this period of Chinese history a popular area of Chinese numismatics.
