He was a grandson of Iltutmish and came to the throne after the deposition of Bahram Shah. Masud Shah’s reign was marked by political instability and the growing power of Turkish nobles, who dominated the government and weakened the authority of the sultan. Although initially popular, he struggled to control factional disputes within the court and failed to establish strong central rule.
