The dynasty is best remembered for its wars against the Crusaders, particularly Saladin’s recapture of Jerusalem in 1187. Following his death in 1193, the empire was divided among his relatives, creating several semi-independent principalities in Egypt, Syria, and Mesopotamia. Despite frequent internal conflicts, the Ayyubids promoted trade, scholarship, and Islamic culture. Their rule in Egypt ended with the Mamluk takeover in 1250, while several Ayyubid branches survived in Syria and Mesopotamia for decades afterward.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"NumisMallstore","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67709507993915,"sku":"x8391-77036","price":52.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0447\/1750\/6710\/files\/w77036.jpg?v=1791926388","url":"https:\/\/www.numismall.com\/products\/large-bronze-dirham-of-al-muzaffar-ghazi-1220-47-ayyubid-dynasty","provider":"NumisMall","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
