The revolt was caused by heavy Roman taxation, religious tensions, corruption among Roman officials, and growing resentment of foreign rule. Jewish rebels initially achieved several victories, but Rome responded with a massive military campaign led by the generals Vespasian and later his son Titus. In 70 CE the Romans captured Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Temple, one of the most significant events in Jewish history. The final resistance ended at the fortress of Masada in 73 CE. The war devastated Judaea, caused enormous loss of life, and marked a turning point in the Jewish diaspora and Roman control of the region.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"NumisMallstore","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51278095089979,"sku":"x11829-61075","price":185.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0447\/1750\/6710\/files\/w61075.jpg?v=1779460483","url":"https:\/\/www.numismall.com\/products\/first-jewish-war-year-2-prutah-67-68-ad-ancient-judaea","provider":"NumisMall","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
