Imitating Gupta/Hardaker ISPC VI IV F 145 (#574). The coin is an ancient imitation of a Mauryan silver coin - these are EXCEEDINGLY rare and hard to find. We listed another drachm, struck with punches cut by the same celator. The punches are very-very similar in style, but not identical. The flan was manufactured by the same method as the other coin, but this coin is lighter (about 60% of the weight it should be). The Mauryan Empire was India's first great unified empire. It lasted from 321 to 185 BCE, and was ruled by the Mauryan dynasty. At its height it ruled virtually all of northern and central India and parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
