Arabic legends on both sides: "Obey Allah and obey the profet and those in authority among you" (Quran IV, 62) - "Muhammad" / "If there were no sultan verily the people would devour". Dated to 730 AH = 1330 AD. 18mm, 7.4 grams. Mintless type. "The Coins of the Indian Sultanates" D-411; Rajgor 1131.Gorgeous large and thick bronze coinw with silver-enriched surfaces. This coin is a great historical piece of numismatics! In 1327 Mohamed III introduced a monetary reform, part of which included an issue of a so-called "forced currency" - bronze pieces that had a government-set value of silver pieces of identical weight. This piece was similar in appearance to a silver tanka and had a weight of a 50-jital silver piece (adli), but was made of almost pure copper. The reform was unpopular (for obvious reasons) and issues of these coins was very short-lived. .
