Geometric decorations with rosettes, Asomtavruli letter Ⴂ (G for Giorgi) in the middle, arabic legend around: "King of the Kings Giorgi, sword of the Messiah" / Geometric decorations with rosettes, arabic inscription "Al-Mukhtafi li-amrallah Amir al-Muminin" (referencing the Abbasid Caliph al-Mukhtafi (1136-1160)). 15mm, 2.41 grams. George III of the Bagrationi dynasty, was the King of Georgia from 1156 to 1184. His reign was part of what would be called the Georgian Golden Age – a historical period in the High Middle Ages, during which the Kingdom of Georgia reached the peak of its military power and development.
