Five punch-mark symbols (see below) / A single punch-mark (peacock on a three-arched hill). Irregular flat silver planchet, 14mmx13mm, 3.59 grams. Pataliputra mint. Gupta/Hardaker ISPC VI IV D 25 (#570); MACW 4183-4184.

The Mauryan Empire was India's first great unified empire. It lasted from 321 to 185 BCE, and was ruled by the Mauryan dynasty. At its height itruled virtually all of northern and central India and parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
