Rare silver obol of King Hyrkod ("Hyrcodes"), ca.1st-2nd century AD, Bukharan Soghd, Pre-Islamic Central Asia

Bust of ruler right, behind a distorted greek legend YPKωΔOY / Standing King or deity holding spear, fire on the shoulders, corrupt greek legend. 12mm, 0.67 grams. Bukhara mint (?). Alram 1237; MIG 671; Senior 10.2.

The legend is often legible on the full drachm. This coin is an obol, and the legends on obols are almost never legible. The dating of this type is difficult - various dates ranging from the 1st century BC to the 4th century AD. Based on the style and metal, these later pieces probably date to ca.1st or 2nd century AD.
