Rare HUGE silver tanka, Ghiyas-Ud-Din Iwaz Khilji (as Governor: 1207-1208 AD, as Sultan: 1209-1226), Bengal Sultanate, India

Minted in the name of Sultan Iltutmish of Delhi. Silver Tanka, year 622 (1225 AD), Muhammad in centre of the middle line of the Kalima / Arabic inscriptions. Very fine, a little weak in places and flan defect on obverse, very rare! Excellent HUGE silver coin, very attractive, thick and heavy - 30mm, 10.8 grams. "The coins ofIndian Sultanates" #B39. This rare type was struck afterthe expedition of Iltutmish in 620-621 to Bengal to quell the rebellion of Iwaz. Iwaz submitted, and struck a series of tankas (in 622 AH) in the name of Iltutmish. This submission was very short-lived ,since his rebellion resumed shortly after Iltutmish left for Delhi.
