Vanga Janapada (ca.550-500 BC)

Vanga (also known as Banga) or Greater Bengal was a kingdom located in the eastern part of the Indian Subcontinent, comprising part of West Bengal, India and present-day modern Bangladesh. The historical Vanga Janapada can be identified with West Bengal. It was a seafaring nation of Ancient India. They issued some scarce debased silver coins and small silver punchmarked coins, all bearing a pictire of a boat.
