Legend in Persian Shod Afta’b-O-Ma’h, zar-O-sim dar Jahan/az sekkee-ye Emam be-haqq Sahib-oz-Zamman ("The Sun & the Moon became gold and silver/ from the rightful Imam (the 12th Shi’a leader) the owner of the time"), date (1193 AH / 1779 AD) The mint inside cartouche with ruler's evocation "ya Karim" on top. 22mm, 9.16 grams. Mazandaran mint. KM #523, Album #2796 type C.


 

Karim Shah was a regent for Ismail III Safavi (1163-1169 AH). He usurped the throne in 1172 AH.
