Silver teradrachm, imitating Athens, minted ca.300 BC in Syria or Anatolia. Rare!
Head of Athena right in crested Attic helmet, in a nice barbaric style / ATHE, owl standing right, olive sprig and crescent moon behind. 25mm, 16.78 grams. Rare this nice! Very unusual issue, with a crude portrait but still in a very attractive style.
These coins were probably minted in the very late 4th century BC. A coin from the very same set of dies (not nearly as nice as this piece, though) was sold by UBS - UBS Gold & Numismatics, Auction 59, Lot number: 5558 (January 27th, 2004).
