Scarce "1477" huge silver rupee of Islam Shah (1545-1552), Bengal mint
Islamic legend within a square, "1477" in arabic numbers in the top obverse margin (the meaning is unknown), followed by a star of David / Islamic inscriptions. Dated to 957 AH = 1550 AD. Very large, 31mm in diameter, 11.5 grams. "The coins of the Indian Sultanates" D980, Rajgor 1791, Wight 1318-1325.

Islam was the Suri sultan of Delhi, but his power extended to Bengal, where coins in his name were issued throughout his reign. This coin is from the Bengal provincial issue. Scarce, difficult to find.
