Bronze prutah (AE17) of Antoninus Felix (52-60 AD), Ancient Judea

Nice bronze prutah (AE16) of Antoninus Felix (52-60 AD) (famous (or infamous, if you prefer) for presiding over the trial of St. Paul). NEPW KLAY KAICAP on obverse, two shields and two spears crossed. 17mm, 2.61 grams.

The reverse depicts a palm tree and BPIT/KAI (="Britanicus Caesar"). One of the few ancient coins mentioning the name of Britannicus. Very nice In 6 A.D. The territory of Herod Anchelaus (Judaea, Samaria and Idumaea) was annexed by Augustus, and ruled by procurators for 60 years, until the first Jewish revolt broke out in 66 AD.
